ABOUT SHARON DAWN
Hi, I am the author and artist behind the Rainbow Vision Journal, which is a series of guided journals with prompts, designed to empower women to re-discover their joy, freedom, and true self. I have combined my passion for personal growth, creativity, and my own life experiences, to create a transformative system that helps women like you, find, accept, and be the unique person you truly are.
As a survivor of childhood abuse and domestic violence, I have had to overcome some big challenges to build a life of authenticity and happiness. My journey began in 1995, when I escaped to Australia with my two children and only $500 in my pocket, vowing that from now on, I was going to live life on my terms.
I remember walking through the airport, after fleeing New Zealand, and thinking I had no idea what I was going to do, or how I was going to look after my kids. One thing I did know, was the promise I made to myself...From now on, no matter what, I am going to be ME! There was only one problem with that, I had no idea who ME was!
Since then, I have followed my heart, discovering my passions for tourism, real estate, painting, teaching, nomadic travelling and personal growth. My experiences have shaped my belief that happiness comes from within and that we all have the power to be happy and create the life we desire, if we choose to.
The concept for the Rainbow Vision Journals came to me in a moment of clarity, combining my love of art and journaling with my understanding on how our mind works. Inspired by my son’s resilience after becoming a paraplegic and my studies on the power of thought and manifesting reality, I developed these journals to help women release their past, focus on the future, and embrace their authentic unique selves.
The Rainbow Vision Journals are my way of sharing what I have learned so you too, can follow your heart and find the happiness you deserve.
In June 2021, I had to put the Journals on hold when I discovered a small lump in my breast. In 6 weeks that lump was the size of a golf ball, with a very aggressive cancer, so within 3 months I had a mastectomy. I spent the next year working with a nutritionist and a naturopath to try to keep myself cancer free. Unfortunately, 12 months after finding the lump, when I thought I was in the clear, I got severe pain in my legs and could hardly walk. Thinking I had put my back out; I went to an osteopath who told me to go straight to the hospital. The results of a CT scan showed that the cancer had eaten holes in my ribs and every vertebra in my back and neck, so I couldn't walk because my back was crumbling. I was advised if I didn't have radiation immediately, I would be in a wheelchair in a matter of weeks as one vertebra had already collapse.
As the cancer was so aggressive, I was put on Chemotherapy every 3 weeks and told I would only live for another 6-12 months at most. That was three years ago. I'm still on chemo however my cancer is stable due to my diet, walking routine and general positive attitude for life. I am now back promoting my journals because this is what makes my heart sing.
I am really glad I have learnt to love and accept myself for who I am inside and not what I look like on the outside. I aged 10 years in 6 months and without that self-love and acceptance, this cancer journey would have been so much harder.
Through the Rainbow Vision Journal series, I have tried to provide a safe and creative space for women to explore self-awareness, self-expression, and self-love because we women are notorious at putting everyone else first, but it's now time to put yourself first. I love the idea, happy mum, happy family (no matter how old the kids are). We owe it to ourselves and to them to be happy.
What I love most about these journals is I get to watch women come out of their shell. I see them gain self-esteem and confidence to start doing things that make them happy. I see them learn to accept themselves for who they truly are and then I get to watch them blossom into the FABuLous person they are meant to be, and that makes my heart sing.
My mission is to inspire women to step out of their comfort zones, learn to follow their heart, love and embrace their uniqueness, and create happy, fulfilling lives.
I love empowering women to break free from self-doubt, take control, and fearlessly pursue a life where they feel valued, and free to do what makes their heart sing, because we all deserve to be happy.
